Pashupati Sharma is not an unknown name for people who are familiar with contemporary Nepali folk music, for he has provided dohori lovers—living in and out of the country—with some of the most fun tunes to dance to and contemplate on. Born in Syangja, Sharma has been singing dohori ever since he can remember—the genre being the most loved art form of the place. In 2002, Sharma’s parents sent him to Kathmandu to become an engineer, but he secretly started performing duets in a bar called Saptakoshi Dohori Sanjh located in Chabahil instead. Later, he started taking part in live dohori competitions, in which he often landed in the top positions.
Teej Festival in Nepal
Teej or Haritalika Teej is the greatest festival of Hindu women all over Nepal, which is celebrated for marital happiness, husband’s longevity and purification of one’s body and soul. Teej festival is dedicated to lord Parvati, commemorating her union with Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, Himalaya (the father of Lord Parvati) promised Parvati’s marriage with Lord Shiva. Since the decision was against Parvati’s wish, she asked her friend to abduct (harit) her. The friend (aalika) abducted and took her to a thick forest where Parvati made a Shiva Linga out of her hair and prayed. Lord Shiva was impressed with her prayer and gave his words to marry her. Therefore, Teej celebration is highly associated with husband and marriage. It is also said that the fasting during Teej is specially to get the man you desire (for unmarried girls) and for husband’s longevity (for married woman).

Rajesh completed his schooling from Moscow, higher education (MA in English) from Punjab University, India. Studied in Nepal for a year at St Xavier's School in grade eight. He had modeled for Fashion Net, an Indian fashion magazine in 1985 and had also walked the ramp in Kathmandu and New Delhi in 1986. In one year, on an average, he works on 10 to 12 films. The maximum was 16 films in 1994.
