What does airside and landside mean?
Airports are divided into landside and airside areas. Landside areas include parking lots, public transportation train stations and access roads. Airside areas include all areas accessible to aircraft, including runways, taxiways and aprons.
Are all airports owned by the government?
That infrastructure includes commercial airports, which are virtually all owned and operated by state and local governments in the United States, and the air traffic control (ATC) system, which is operated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
What is a landside?
3 : the side of a furrow next to the land in plowing. 4 : a sidepiece opposite the plow moldboard sometimes forming a V with the share edge (as in a bar share) or consisting of a revolving disk wheel that guides the plow and receives the side pressure when the furrow is turned.
